The Effect
An Audience of God – Spectators only
In the world:
- Full time schooling is required for everything – elementary to high school, college, special trainings of all professions, etc.
Yet, in most churches:
Schooling in God’s Word (the most important aspect of a Christian’s life) is limited to:
- 45 min – 1 hour sermon a week
- Maybe some “extracurricular” Bible study on Sunday or Wednesday night – of which, maybe 10% of the congregation attends!
At this rate it takes many, many years to get even a basic understanding of Christianity !
Many people after having attended church for 30, 40, even 50 years, still do not know the Word or really understand what Christianity is all about!
Sunday morning sermons are not enough to counteract the constant barrage from the world (media, social media, entertainment, friends, family, schooling, etc)
People no longer rely on the Bible as their standard for living or their source of truth.
In fact, few even bother to read it anymore!
This is why most Christians are spiritually immature and ignorant of God’s Word.
There is no disciple making!
Intensive, systematic teaching is almost non-existent in the church.
There are individual discipleship programs available at Bible schools, seminaries and online, but formal discipleship training should be done in every local church and available for all, not just relegated to those who go to seminary school for a career path.
This is the only way that the “whole church” can be taught, trained, and equipped for advancing the Kingdom of God!
And this is what most Christians are HUNGRY for!
